With almost 20 years experience in Orthopedics, Dr. Harbert will take the time to explain to you your treatment options and guide you through the recovery process. His personal experiences as an athlete at both the high school and college level has given him knowledge of what it is like being an athlete that just wants to get back into the game.
Thomas Harbert, M.D. graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and in 1986 with a Degree in Natural Sciences, Education. He completed his Medical Degree in 1991 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Harbert completed his residency with University of Oklahoma Health Science Center, Dept. of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with Dr. J. Andy Sullivan. Dr. Harbert received special training in the sports medicine field from the Oklahoma Center for Athletes and also The Sports Medicine Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
He is currently the Sports Medicine Director with Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. Dr. Harbert is Board certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He has been in private practice as a general orthopedic surgeon in Aberdeen since 1999. He has special interests in the treatment of knee and shoulder disorders, adult and pediatric fractures, total joint replacement, disorders of the foot and ankle, arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine.
